The Congress of Traditional Leaders of South Africa, (Contralesa), which was formally launched in 1990 as a national organization, today enjoys the support of the majority of traditional leaders throughout South Africa.
The organisation is committed to the cultural, social and economic development of the people of South Africa, especially those living in the rural areas.
Contralesa Investment Holdings is a vehicle of the Contralesa Development Trust established to participate in business initiatives to raise funds for the upliftment of rural communities. The Contralesa Development Trust is responsible for the allocation of profits into developmental and social projects contrywide. This relationship ensures that the benefits of the investment reach a broad based community.
Contralesa's national executive is made up of eminent traditional leaders including Nkosi Advocate SP Holomisa (President); Khosi R Sumbana (Deputy President); Kgoshi Setlamorago Thobejane (National Organiser); Nkosi Advocate Mwelo Nonkonyaya (General Secretary); Nkosi Z. Mlaba (Treasurer) and Prince Burns-Ncamashe.
Contralesa Investment Holdings has three non-executive directors namely Princess Sakhe Mahlangu, Princess Thembi Marie Ravele and Nkhosana NtuthukoyabeNguni Khuzwayo. Their role as non-executive directors provides important oversight into the running of the business. Other members in the leadership of Contralesa Investment Holdings play an active role in supporting UWP's efforts througout South Africa .
